  MIXED MEDIAWORKSHOP PROGRAMME
 FOR GAYSEY MAISEY
    March 8 – May 31

March 8 – Polymer Clay  jewellery, including ideas for earrings, pendants,  bracelets and pins. We will be enhancing the pieces with mica-powders, rubbing wax, wire and beads.
March15 – Using inks, stamps and embossing powders, we will be making a miniature oriental screen which can be used as a decoration or a special greetings card.
March 22 – Easter Eggs which are guaranteed not put an inch on your hips ! But will look stunning hanging from some dry twigs as a special Easter decoration for your home. The polystyrene shapes can be covered in a variety of ways. Completely covered with a mix of sequins and beads, they become a jewel encrusted ‘Faberge’ egg. Painted in pastel colours and using gingham ribbons they have a resonance of past times. We will be hoping to make 3 eggs.
March 29 – Make a bracelet from a sheet of Shrink Plastic, Decorator’s Chalks and stamped images. Never fails to amaze as you watch your piece of work shrink before your eyes !
April 5 – NO WORKSHOP
April 12 – Once again we will be using polymer clay, this time to adorn our homes not our-self! We will design a small mosaic, using clay tiles impressed with images and sentiments, attached to mount-board this can be displayed as a free standing decoration, used to embellish a book cover or hung on the wall.
April 19 – Everybody has some un-wanted, unused C.D’s! With the help of embossing powder, wire, beads and stamps you can turn them into jewellery and card toppers that stand out from the crowd.
April 26 – NO WORKSHOP
May 3 – A Star Book is a gift, a card and a piece of home decor! Made entirely out of card and decorated with inks, stamps and embellishments your friends and family will love to receive them!
May10 – The missing piece! How many of your children or grandchildren throw away jigsaw puzzles because a piece has gone missing! Grab them before they hit the dustbin! We can turn them into fantastic embellishments for cards and book covers and they make eye-catching pins that will be unique!
May 17 - I love books! I love to read them, I love to feel them – particularly old ones, I love to alter them and I love to make them. To help you understand my obsession, I’m going to start you off by making a dowel spined notebook, that is easy enough for a child to make and sophisticated enough for an adult to admire.
May 24 -  Steampunk is a look you will come across quite a lot in the world of Mixed Media. It is a sort of mad scientist look- all clockwork gears and brassy bits. So I thought, we could ease you into it by making some designer look jewellery from steel washers. By using alcohol inks or embossing powders to colour them no-one will believe they came from the local D.I.Y store.
May 31 –  An Exploding Box card. No it doesn’t actually explode with a bang. But it will certainly make the receiver exclaim over its beauty when they take off the lid!

Shop Move

Well, it's true we are moving shop.  Going from number 20 to number 13. Next to No. 11 Deli and Just prom Dresses.  It'll be a good move, the shop is 3-4 times bigger, lots of light, and a big shop front with 2 double windows.  I've got some new suppliers and some items for men.

I get the keys on 20th June - not long now, but I think it'll take about a month to get straight, as walls and ceiling are coming down, a nice floor to be laid, and a workshop room to be added.  It's going to be fabulous.

It's a new start which we are all looking forward to.  I'll let you know more details and the opening date soon.

Me, My Shop and my ladies

Hi, my name is Gaye, and  I own the shop Gaysey Maisey, the name came about as I was called Gaysey by a work colleague at Carlton Tv, some 20 years ago, the name stuck!  Four days before my 40th birthday I gave birth to twins, Amy and Sophie, who are now 11, and can be seen in my shop on many occasions.  I drew two little girls and I named them Gaysey Maisey, although my girls think they are called Amy and Sophie!
I've been through a tough time recently; having lost both my husband of 55 and my mum to cancer.  But I am allowed to say "life has to go on".  So I'm back in the shop getting ready to move premises, only across the road, but much larger.
I'm so blessed that I have really nice friends who work in the shop when I'm not here.  I'll list them:
Mel Anderson does Monday and Tuesday - she has some of her spectacular work in the shop,  I try and not to be in the shop when Mel is in, she seems to think the till does strange things, without her even touching it - she makes me laugh!

Jen Mason does Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, also every other Saturday. She is very passionate about my shop, which is very important. She is a fantastic freelance photographer.  She has done some superb photos of my girls.

Deborah Darling - She fills in when she can, I have lots of her hand made work in the shop, she never stops, quoting " sleep, is a waste of time, it disturbs me working". I have some fantastic teddies, rabbits, hens, you name it, she makes it, in my shop.  She is very passionate of her work, as we all are.

Sarah Woodier (WooWoo) -  she now only can do the odd days for me, unfortunately, as she is heading for London soon to seek a new career!

Andrea Farnsworth - she is a God sending, for all the lovely reasons.  She looks after me, and I love her dearly.

Alice Parker - Alice is my Saturday girl, she is very polite, very able, and very willing, you may see her in the holiday periods.

Me:  I did over 20 years at Carlton TV, in various jobs, very hard and very lonely.  I've always dreamed about  having a shop like "Token House" in Nottingham; and now I have one, a third of the size, but most items they have in the shop, I have. When I move over to the new double fronted shop across the road, there will be more room, and much more to see.
